Grandmaster Thommy Luke Böhlig’s First Visit to Sri Lanka in 2011 – A Historic Moment for Wing Tsjun Kung Fu

In 2011, Sri Lanka witnessed a historic moment in martial arts when Grandmaster Thommy Luke Böhlig visited the country for the first time to conduct an exclusive Wing Tsjun Kung Fu training seminar. This groundbreaking event was made possible through the efforts of Sifu Premil Naveendra, who connected with Grandmaster Böhlig online and invited him to train Sri Lankan students in the Wing Tsjun system.

During his visit, Grandmaster Böhlig personally trained Sifu Premil Naveendra, sharing his in-depth knowledge and advanced techniques in Wing Tsjun. Recognizing Sifu Premil’s dedication and passion for the art, Grandmaster Böhlig honored him with the official membership as Sri Lanka’s representative for Wing Tsjun International. This marked a milestone achievement, making Premil Naveendra’s school the only internationally affiliated Wing Tsjun school in Sri Lanka.

This visit not only laid the foundation for Wing Tsjun in Sri Lanka but also established a long-standing connection between Wing Tsjun International and the Sri Lankan martial arts community. Since then, the legacy of Grandmaster Böhlig’s teachings continues to inspire and shape the future of Wing Tsjun in the country.

Today, Sri Lanka remains an integral part of Wing Tsjun International, hosting world-class seminars and training programs under the guidance of Grandmaster Thommy Luke Böhlig. His first visit in 2011 remains a historic moment that marked the beginning of a new era for Wing Tsjun in Sri Lanka.
